Kurt VerhelstHeadquartered in Belgium, the Prayon Group specializes in the production of phosphate chemicals and operates production sites in Belgium, France and the USA. Purified phosphoric acid is the key raw-material of the company’s water-soluble fertilisers. Prayon manufactures and distributes a wide range of purified phosphoric acids and phosphate-salts, geared towards the food-, and fertilizer- sectors, and for many other industrial applications. Hortipray® products are a complete range of water-soluble fertilisers (MAP, MKP, potassium nitrate, magnesium sulphate and more). Prayon does not produce phosphite (PO3) products.

“Our tech-grade MAP is branded Hortipray® MAP and is a freeflowing crystalline powder that nourishes hydroponics-, and soilgrown crops at all growth stages. It has been produced by Prayon for over 45 years at our Engis plant in Belgium. Our production capacity is 60 KMT/Y. Hortipray® MAP is produced also in a version branded Hortipray® MAP anticalc, with same nutrients analysis, but with unique feature that improves its performance under hard-water conditions, by preventing the formation of insoluble carbonates and phosphates in the irrigation lines, that disturbs the flowing and clogs the drippers. Hortipray® MAP features 30- 35% of the European specialty- MAP marketplace.

Our tech-grade MKP is branded Hortipray® MKP and is a freeflowing crystalline powder that nourishes hydroponics-, and soilgrown crops at all growth stages. It has been produced by Prayon for over 25 years at our Puurs plant in Belgium. Our production capacity is 25,000 MT. Hortipray® MKP features 25- 30% of the European specialty- MKP marketplace. Hortipray® MKP anticalc functions similarly to the Hortipray® MAP anticalc. We have recently launched a new and innovative product, which is an excellent alternative to iron chelates. Hortipray® micronutri Fe (0-42-48 + 2.8Fe) is a pure nutrients, very concentrated P and K carrier, based on patented combination of multiple polyphosphates and iron. It has presented highly effective iron uptake by plants, even under fluctuating water pH values.

We are also preparing ourselves to the upcoming phosphate situation by having signed with Moroccan OCP (50% shareholder of Prayon) an exclusive licensing agreement, whereby OCP will use our MAP production technology in their new plant, to be erected at Jorf Lafsar, with a production capacity of 100 KMT/Y, as of 2017”.
